Online Casinos Complain
The Betfair online casino from the UK complained to the European Commission about the Draft proposal in line with reforming their gambling regulations and laws. Betfair disapproves with the proposal because the company believes it is a symbol of discrimination. State betting treaty was designed to re-align on how Germany handles their sports betting online casinos and lotteries. But in the month of September of last year, Germany’s betting monopoly is against the European laws, says the European Union Court of Justice. And last June 1, the ban was lifted from the firm because according to the administrative court, the draft proposal was following with the European Constitution of Europe.
On the other hand, Betfair considers it to be unfair if they would pay at least 16.67 percent on tax on online casinos on all the stakes involved especially with the latest situation in Germany. The number of licenses to be granted has been restricted to seven for private online casino businesses.
According to the Chief Legal and Regulatory Affairs Officer, Martin Cruddace commented on the recent event that happened in Germany. Cruddace thinks that even though they seem to be open with the idea of expanding the market for sports betting, it is still biased and unfair since the recent draft is discriminating and unbalanced which keeps the private operators of online casinos away from the market. In addition, if this treaty would come, then neither will it give the players a greater incentive nor will it survive with the analysis of the European court. With the European Court, they did not give an official comment regarding this matter. Hopefully whatever the court decides, it would be for a better, more cohesive and peaceful regulation among nations.
